Shuichi Kawata
Born in 1984 in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, Kawata graduated from Kunitachi College of Music with the Yatabe Prize at the top of his class.

He was selected for the 78th and 81st Japan Music Competition in the trumpet division. He won the 3rd prize in the trumpet section of the 25th Japan Winds and Percussion Competition. He was awarded the Diploma Prize at the 49th International Instrumental Music Competition in Markneukirchen, Germany. 

Between 2015 - 2016, Kawata trained at the Karlsruhe College of Music, Germany, as an overseas trainee for emerging artists by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. He has studied under Hitoshi Kumagai and Eisuke Yamamoto at Kunitachi College of Music, Reinhold Friedrich at Karlsruhe College of Music, and Genzo Kitamura & Hirofumi Noguchi in private practice.

Kawata is an associate player of ARK Brass, a member of Brass Ensemble ZERO Tokyo, Le DueTrombe and The Schilke Five. After working with the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra, Tokyo, he has been Principal Trumpet of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra since 2017.
