José Sibaja is a highly acclaimed Costa Rican trumpet player, renowned globally across Classical, Latin, Jazz, and Pop genres. His illustrious career spans international solo appearances with prestigious orchestras like the National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, and Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica, among others. 
He's also toured worldwide with Ricky Martin for the Vuelve and Livin' la Vida Loca tours, and currently serves as the lead trumpet with the celebrated brass quintet, Boston Brass.


Proclaimed "a major young talent, the next Wynton Marsalis", Sibaja made his solo debut at just 17 with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. A New World School of the Arts and University of Miami alumnus, his vast repertoire and masterful artistry position him as a prominent figure in the new generation of musicians. 

His extensive experience includes Principal Trumpet roles with the Miami Symphony, Sinfonieta de Caracas, and Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela, as well as a position with the Dallas Brass.


Beyond live performances, Sibaja's talent extends to televised appearances on the American Music Awards, MTV Awards, Grammy Awards, and Latin Grammy Awards, alongside numerous TV appearances in over 40 countries, including major US late night talk shows. He has recorded with acclaimed artists such as Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Tito Nieves, Franco de Vita, and Gloria Estefan, redefining the concept of a concert artist by blending stylistic genres beyond the classical musician stereotype.
Sibaja has appeared as a recording artist in more than 20 Grammy Award-winning recordings projects and an astounding number of nominations. 


Currently, Sibaja's work with the Boston Brass can be heard on their Rewired, Reminiscing, and Simple Gifts CDs, and his solo albums include Latitudes, Inner Voice, and Spanish Air. He is a Yamaha Music Corporation performing artist, delivering concerts, clinics, and masterclasses globally, and holds the position of Associate Professor of Trumpet for the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University.
