sshhmute artist Euan Harvey joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 2008 after four years with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. After completing degrees in Music and Business Administration at Victoria University of Wellington, Euan worked as a corporate tax specialist in New Zealand, becoming a Chartered Accountant in 2002, before taking up a Fulbright Scholarship to study horn at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Euan was formerly Principal Horn of the Verbier Festival Orchestra, Switzerland and toured with that orchestra to some of the major concert halls in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He has performed as Principal Horn with all of the major symphony and opera orchestras in Australia and New Zealand, and played Principal Wagner Tuba for the 2016 Melbourne Ring Cycle. Euan is also in demand as a teacher and is currently on the faculty of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney.

As a chamber music, Euan has performed in America with ensembles such as Windscape and Happy Hour Brass, in Europe with the Verbier Festival Wind Quintet, and New Zealand with the new music ensemble, Stroma. Euan is frequently heard in the SSO's cocktail hour chamber music series and has also been a member of the New Sydney Wind Quintet and the Sydney Omega Ensemble. Euan has recorded the Brahms Horn Trio and Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings for ABC Classics, and recently recorded the Dawn Wail for the Dead as part of the Paul Stanhope's Requiem CD with the Sydney Chamber Choir.

In addition to his musical activities, Euan is Director of the boutique Charted Accountancy practice, 'Artist Accounts', offering taxation advice to a diverse range of clients, including musicians, artists, rock bands, sound engineers, and charitable trusts in New Zealand. When not performing on stage or at his desk, Euan can be found on his bike, up a mountain, in a river, or a combination of all three.
