Barrett Hocking

Graduating with a Masters Degree in Performance Trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music (London), Barrett Hocking is qualified with a LRAM (Licentiate to the Royal Academy of Music in Brass Specific Teaching) to guide students through graded examinations, including Trinity College, ABRSM and NCEA. Barrett is a skilled and experienced musician with many ensembles, styles and experiences to his credit.

Barrett performs regularly with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and around the globe with double platinum selling group, The Black Seeds. Barrett is also Principal Trumpet for Orchestra Wellington.
As a versatile musician, Barrett has travelled around the world performing trumpet in many countries in a range of settings and genres. Some of the influential artists that he has played with includes Sir Colin Davis, James Judd, Sir Mark Elder, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jack Johnson, Simon O'Neill, Dave Dobbyn, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, New London Orchestra, London Arts Orchestra, the Royal Academy Early Music Ensemble, Manson Ensemble, London Sinfonietta, National Brass Band of New Zealand, New Zealand Army Band, Central Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, Reinhold Friedrich, Gerard Presencer and Fly My Pretties.
